Dr Stephen Rowley

Integrated Quantum Materials is led by Dr Stephen Rowley, a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Principal Investigator at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge. Dr Rowley is a member of Queens’ and Emmanuel Colleges where he was previously a Research Fellow.  He has worked at the Brazilian Centre for Physics Research (CBPF) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento, Italy; and the Department of Physics at Princeton University in the United States.  He teaches undergraduate and graduate students, including the supervision of MPhil and PhD students. Dr Rowley carries out consultancy work for firms in the energy, cryogenics and quantum technology industries. 

Dr Rowley is interested in the physics of strongly correlated electron systems, quantum phase transitions, heavy fermions, topological materials, magnetism, superconductivity, ferroelectricity, ferroelastics and the development of quantum technologies.
